Privacy policy
This policy says what personal data Volter AI, Inc. ("Volter", "we") handles through this website (world.volter.ai) and the Volter World software, and what it does not. Questions and requests go to privacy@volter.ai.
The short version
This site has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies. The Volter World software runs on your machines and sends Volter no telemetry, no usage reports, and none of your app's data. A hosted Volter World service is not offered today, so we hold no data of yours from one.
This website
What your browser sends. Like any website, serving a page means your browser sends a request with your IP address, the page asked for, and its user agent. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which processes those requests to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, and keeps them in its logs under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not add analytics or tags to the pages, and we do not combine these requests with anything else.
Volter's logos. The site's logo and icons load from brand.volter.ai, Volter's own asset host, also served by Cloudflare. Those requests carry the same information and are handled the same way.
What the site stores in your browser. One entry in your browser's local storage, volter.theme, holding the
light or dark theme you picked, if you picked one. It never leaves your browser. Search runs in your browser over
an index the site ships; what you type into it is not sent anywhere.
Email. If you write to us, we use your message and address to answer you and keep the correspondence as ordinary business email.
The software
The volter command and the @volter/* packages are installed from npm; npm (GitHub, Inc.) processes those
downloads under its own privacy statement. Once a day at most, while it works at a terminal, the volter command asks
the npm registry for the latest version of itself, so it can tell you when a newer one is out; it never asks in CI or
for --json, and VOLTER_NO_UPDATE_NOTIFIER=1 turns it off. That request goes to npm, not to Volter, and carries
nothing about your work. Once installed, the software runs where you run it. The state of a
World — its twins' records, logs, and any credential you seal for a real vendor — stays on the machine or server
that runs it, under your control. Volter never receives it. One thing does reach Volter's servers: the World's
dashboard (and a self-hosted platform's pages) load Volter's logo from brand.volter.ai, as this site does, so opening
them sends that request, with your IP address, to Volter's asset host.
When you point a World at a real vendor and deploy to it, your data goes from your machine to that vendor, under the vendor's terms and privacy policy. Volter is not a party to that exchange.
Your rights
Because we hold almost nothing about visitors, there is usually nothing to access, correct or delete; if you believe we hold personal data about you — correspondence, for example — write to privacy@volter.ai and we will tell you what we have and act on your request, as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the CCPA provide. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
Data processing addendum
Volter processes no personal data on your behalf today, so there is no data processing addendum to sign. One will be offered with a hosted service, if Volter offers one.
